What makes our programs effective?
Our programs identify the areas of need in our community and implore the use of verified resources and certified professional presenters. We strive to embolden our members with the skills necessary to respond appropriately to bullying and utilize financial literacy knowledge to gain and maintain wealth. We offer opportunities to volunteer in the community and provide workshops on self-care and empowerment.
OUR PROGRAMS
A powerful curriculum for the growth of young girls
Anti-bullying
With a focus on positive youth development principles, the program is designed for girls ages 10-17 to build the skills needed to de-escalate bullying situations in school and the community. Life skills are reinforced through role-play and interactive social exposure that enhances agency and proactive responses to bullying. The self-esteem of adolescent girls needed to counteract bullying is enhanced by introducing role models and teaching communication and conflict resolution skills.
Financial Literacy
Upon completion of this program, members obtain a better understanding of finances and how to effectively use their finances to build wealth. Members should be able to make wise financial decisions and promote financial well-being over a lifetime, while learning the benefits of saving and investing.

Tammy Martin
Founder/President
Founder of Grace Sister to Sister. With 33+ years working with youth, I saw a need to address bullying and provide positive role models for young girls in Chicago. I am passionate about addressing bullying, supporting community and promoting wellness. Believing in the power of community support and striving to create a safe space where every girl embraces acceptance, strives for excellence and becomes the leaders of tomorrow.
Renyia Martin
Secretary
Renyia Martin has been an employee at the University of Chicago for nearly 16 years. She has come across many people from all walks of life. As a Bronzeville native, she has seen the community change. Renyia believes that your surroundings do not have to dictate your future. Her favorite quote from Martin Luther King, Jr is “Faith is taking the first step, even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” This is important because sometimes we have to have the courage to make a change in the world. Renyia enjoys giving back and is on a mission to continue helping those in need.
Evelyn Austin
Treasurer
As a retired State of Illinois employee, I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Throughout my career, I have consistently been passionate about working with children. Prior to my 26-year tenure with the Department of Children and Family Services as a Child Welfare Specialist and
Daycare Licensing Representative, I was employed as a Mental Health Counselor, working with adolescents. Additionally, I have
several years of experience in retail management. I possess
strong communication and organizational skills, patience, and a keen attention to detail. I firmly believe in the mission of Grace Sister 2 Sister and support its vision.
Elaine Singh
Program Committee Chair
30+ years of experience with progressive roles in data collection, analysis, team development, and management. Highly motivated, goal-oriented and results-driven. Excellent record of successful completion of projects that focus on data accuracy and high rates of response from intended targets. Volunteer experience includes community engagement and outreach with a focus on health and wellness, economic empowerment and youth services.
Najmah Amir
Program Coordinator
My education background of community health practice has given me the skills to identify, engage and develop solutions for physical, social, and mental health concerns. I have a passion for social justice reform, social engagement, and outreach work. I have a history of working with individuals and providing them with the services and support they need to succeed. As a previous member and mentor at Grace Sister to Sister, I am excited to help format the activities and opportunities the members are involved in.
